Intern Blog Post: Letting my SPARKS fly with SPARK
When I walk through SPARK’s doors at 9:30 am, I am always greeted with a smile. The whiteboard walls are filled with doodles, designs and creative ideas, and the entire office is buzzing with laughter and fun.
In the past few weeks, I have worked on countless projects. I started out my internship by helping Alyssa, our CEO’s executive assistant (but more accurately the rock of the office), with tasks and operations. I worked on maintaining email, managing Google spreadsheets, implementing SPARK’s Project Management software, and more. From screening job applicants to stocking the SPARK snack pantry, I have learned the behind-the-scenes work it takes to make an office run smoothly.
Once I got an in-depth understanding of office management, I dove into a competitive analysis of a proprietary software SPARK is creating. I compared it to other similar products and recommended marketing strategies for the new one. The most exciting part is that at the end of my internship, I will be presenting these findings to the CEO! Just as a reminder, I’m 15 years old. To know that the CEO and entire executive team value my recommendations is a pretty awesome feeling.
Interning at SPARK has been unforgettable. The environment is like no other. Every person who works here radiates intelligence, kindness and creativity. And whether it’s a surprise cupcake lunch, an engaging staff meeting, or a new website launch, there’s always something exciting happening here at SPARK. If I were asked what kind of place I work in, I wouldn’t call it an office, I would call it a home.
